Exhibition at the Byzantine Museum of Kastoria

In the context of the celebration of the Liberation of Kastoria and its patron saint Agios Minas, the Ephorate of Antiquities of Kastoria and the Byzantine World Association invite you to the opening of the temporary exhibition “The Military Saints in Byzantium” which will be held with the support of the Municipality of Kastoria and the Holy Metropolis of Kastoria at the Byzantine Museum of the city, on Sunday 13 November 2022 at 12:00: 00μ. μ.

This exhibition was inaugurated in October 2020 at the Casa Bianca Municipal Gallery in Thessaloniki and includes several representations of military saints from the Byzantine monuments of Kastoria. Military saints were particularly beloved in Byzantine art as defenders of cities, guarantors of the security of the Empire’s borders and champions of the faith.
