Authentikk project promotes the connection of the two (2) communities Korca and Kastoria
through the beautiful nature and the imposing Mountain volumes of Morava from Albania
border area and the Mountain volume of Grammos when it comes to Greece. Authenikk
project supports the alternative maintaining tourism especially through the organization of a
paragliding event in Morava mountain volume.
The project suggest a virtual tour between the two communities starting from Morava
mountain volume and continue to Grammos mountains which is one of the most exciting
areas for hiking in Greece with rich history and historical sites where the last part of the
Greek civil was took place.
The whole complex of Gammos is covered by dense forests of cold coniferous and broad-
leaved conifers, while on the peaks there are vast alpine meadows. These forests, together
with the unique fauna of the area – wolves, bears, wild geese and otters, among others – and
the rare flora – many Balkan and Central European species – make up a very special, unusual
for Greek standards, natural environment.
Grammos for hiking: On the foothills of its major peaks, Gramos offers many opportunities
for short hikes, which require little experience, equipment and endurance. The best organised
network is around Nestorio. The hiking routes, with detailed descriptions, photos, maps and
diagrams are presented in the special chapter. Several of the above routes are currently being
marked.
Grammos for climbing: Both the altitude and the geography of Grammos – long natural lines,
such as ridges and valleys – guarantee the possibility of long marches. At the same time, the
large area of sub-alpine meadows, forming smooth slopes, gives Gramos a sense of a central
European mountain. Mountaineers’ interest is focused on the Eastern Grammos.

Lake Gistova is one of the three large alpine lakes in Greece. It is located in the eastern part
of Gramos, above the village of Gramos or Gramosta and close to the highest peaks of the
mountain, Periphanos and peak “2520”.

Grammos Mountain Volume is one still undiscovered area that could offer unique hiking and
trekking experiences to the amateur but also to the professional hiker. One route as such is
between ‘Peykofyto-Lake Moutsalia’ with beautiful nature and breath-taking view.
Although most visitors prefer the dirt road to climb up to the lakes of Arenas, the old path
from Pefkoftos is hidden in the darkness of the forest. Little used in recent years, the path has
a basic signposting that allows us to follow it and find ourselves from the village to the heart
of the Grammos.
